Our second backyard suite project in Westgate is a unique project in a few different ways. This design was brought to us by the homeowner to build, and we noticed that the architect managed to get the design passed, with the suite being only five feet away from the main residence. The interior living space square footage was also relaxed by the city, as it approaches more than 920 total s.f. This goes to show how RCG zoning changed the rules for backyard suites and allowed the city more discretionary room to provide relaxations on setbacks and size.

The suite’s garage has two dedicated parking stalls for the main house and a single separated stall for the unit upstairs. Walking into the suite, you immediately notice the beautiful hardwood wideplank flooring. Walking up the stairs, you enter into a spacious living room and kitchen area, with two almost equivalent-sized bedrooms on the left separated in the middle by a full bathroom. The living space features thick granite countertops, custom undercounter cabinetry storage, a custom fireplace, and a full zebra blinds package provided by our affiliate supplier. Overall, the space offered by this Westgate backyard suite is incredible, and it was rented out almost immediately upon completion for top dollar under current market conditions.
