This Queensland backyard suite project began with our clients looking for a max-sized suite with architecturally appealing design inside and out. They were also looking for a certain set of upgrades to make the suite more functional for a wide range of uses.

Based off the ‘Xavier’ standard plan, we increased the size of both the garage envelope and the living space within this Queensland garage suite. A self-collecting rainwater system, solar panels and other green methods were explored during the design phase.

Various changes and upgrades our client decided upon during our design consultations include (but not limited to):

  • +30 square feet to the garage for extra storage
  • +74 square feet to the suite living space
  • added a third-car garage
  • floor-plan was rearranged completely
  • Soaker tub and glass shower with partition
  • Custom MDF shelving
  • Office/bedroom with installed Murphy bed

The large lot allowed our client to undergo permit relaxation with the city to obtain more than the ~850 square feet of allowable living space for this project.

QUEENSLAND COMMUNITY
